Professional Squash Association

PSA

The Professional Squash Association approached us in early 2014 with a tired and out-of-date website. Impressed by our work for other sports organisations, including Yorkshire County Cricket Club, they recruited us to develop two sites – one to promote the sport in general and engage with fans, the other to host their live and on-demand video platform, SquashTV.

We began by revamping their design language, evolving it into a beautiful modern format that was much better suited to the digital space. We worked closely with their branding partner to seamlessly integrate the new corporate identity into the website.

The website needed to engage with fans of professional squash, from providing the latest player and tournament news to the official world player rankings. Every part of the website was improved with user experience top of the list of priorities.

All the data behind PSA is provided via an external service that pushes updates to the site. We integrated this with process data as it comes in, ensuring the content is consistently accurate. SquashTV uses the Ooyala Backlot system for providing video content – we worked with their API to fetch and store video data and relate it to tournament data coming in via an external feed.

For subscriptions we used Recurly, which allows for variations within payment plans and the option for people to use a debit card rather than a direct debit. As part of the Eurosport contract, we also created bespoke messaging for people living across the continent with added functionality for adjusting their subscriptions. Personalised content of this nature means people now receive relevant information based on their location.

PSA were very impressed with our efforts, especially as we worked to incredibly tight deadlines. The client were pleased with just how smooth we made the transition and the way we imported thousands of subscribers without incident – minimum disruption meant maximum business continuity. We were also instrumental in taking the brand to new markets and implementing the modernising updates they needed to deliver their services.
